The In-Between: When You’re Not Who You Were, But Not Yet Who You’re Becoming

Bridging the transformation gap between who you were and who you're becoming
You’ve outgrown the old. The new is still forming. Keep going.

There’s a part of transformation that no one talks about.

You’ve moved beyond the crisis and have managed to reach a certain level of functioning. You’re surviving but not yet thriving.

It’s the in-between. That awkward space where you’re no longer who you were – but you’re not yet who you’re becoming. Where nothing feels the same anymore.

You’re showing up. You’re doing the work of rebuilding yourself. But you feel disconnected. Maybe even isolated. It feels lonely.

One of my clients described it perfectly:
I just want to be finished already.

I’ve been there.

When you’ve spent months, or years, shedding old ways of being, it’s easy to expect clarity to come rushing in. But instead, nothing feels certain yet.

There’s silence. No applause. It’s just you – rewriting in real time. It’s uncomfortable, for sure. Messy. All transformation is.

But it is also the stretch before the shift.

If you feel like you’re in free-fall right now, please know that you’re not lost.

Something meaningful is unfolding - the person you’re becoming is closer than ever.

Mini Practice (Free Gift):

If you feel like life is moving and you’re standing still, try this:

Sit quietly with these questions:
What version of me am I leaving behind?
What version of me might be quietly emerging?

You don’t have to know. But letting yourself ask begins to soften the edges of uncertainty.

This in-between is uncomfortable, yes, but it’s also powerful.
